I have completed a couple of Tin Type workshops over the years, along with bmetherell.com. The most recent workshop was with Ellie from Gold Street Studios.
We got to spend the day learning how to coat both tin and glass plates to create our own wet plates to then load straight into a large format camera, take the photographs before the plate dries out, and get straight back into the darkroom to process the image.
Our plan is to in time purchase all of the materials required in order to be able to do this ourselves in our own darkroom, but for now workshops are an enjoyable way to learn the ins and outs of this type of photography.
